THE WARLOCK EP

The Warlock EP is the first extension of the Flight from Erebus album.  The warlock himself is a character from the as yet unfinished Flight from Erebus story, of which further parts have been written but which I have not yet got round to editing and posting onto the site.  He is locked in a struggle to release himself from the dark land of Erebus and can only do this by completing the required sacrifice.  He will use whatever dark magic he can to reach, ensnare and bring down his prey.  To this end he is sort of a personification of bad luck and that feeling I am sure many people have in their life where it feels as though unseen forces are working against us.  I guess he is also therefore a figure of paranoia too.  This is largely the concept behind the EP, as I wanted to convey the feeling of being hunted down.  The tracks on the EP are:

1. The Warlock (Cooke Q's Dragonsteeth & Mousetail edit) - There's a reference to great and very old computer game there, for retro game fans to spot.

2. You are in a Clearing.. - This track was considered for the Flight from Erebus album but was just not ready on time.  It seemed fitting to include it on this release.  The title is a reference to Fighting Fantasy game books, obviously.

3. Dis Beat (ft. TwinTwo) - This track was the only truly new project, made specially for this EP.  I think it turned out very well, especially given that TwinTwo very kindly appeared once more.  The title is a tip of the hat to Bomb the Bass's classic tune (albeit reversed) and of course Dante's Inferno.

4. Hex - This started out life as a proposed cover of Voodoo Ray (another beloved classic, by A Guy Called Gerald) which got shelved for a very long time and was picked up again as the starting point for this new track instead.

5. Sickness in the Trees - This was also considered as a track for Flight from Erebus but again it was not quite ready on time.  It is a sequel to the World Beneath the Decks track, Picnic in the Trees.  Obviously this one is much, much darker though.

Thanks go to some wonderful people, who helped to realise this release.  In no particular order, these are:

Sean  Rooney - appearing as The Warlock, throughout.

TwinTwo - appearing on track 2

Michael Martin - appearing as Logan Pine

Debbie Lashley - appearing as The Guide and also finding the perfect location for images (amongst other things).

Chris Aldridge - for guitar effects and riffs used on The Warlock and for getting the images for the release.

The next extension will be the Ouija EP, which I would hope would be released around March / April time of next year.  After that will probably plump for a Candles EP.

Thanks for reading.
